Affordable Jamaican Real Estate

We believe that it is imperative that as an investor you find what is known as affordable Jamaican real estate. The Government of Jamaica wants to solve its people’s housing problem as a first priority. The amenities for low income groups of people are minimal seen from any angle. There is a constant movement of population from the villages to the city, resulting in the increase of city slums. Cinder block and steel are the basic materials used for building houses on the city limits. In villages, people live in huts built of wood, topped with zinc sheets as roof.

Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Development Corporation is the authority which is committed in constructing affordable homes and maintaining already constructed ones. It believes that affordable housing contributes to stability of the community. This scheme meets the needs of already homeless persons and less income families. Whether they are homeowners, rented or cooperative housing members, residents of affordable homes show enthusiasm in their community because of lack of financial burden.

The Housing Agency of Jamaica plans to provide 13,000 affordable homes spread over the island during next three years. The Ministry of Water and Housing does wonderful job of getting the people clean water, resulting in good health care and sustained development. This ministry also looks into the feasibility of entering into joint venture of housing projects to benefit people of the island in securing their affordable homes within the stipulated project time. This is why on several fronts companies such as Gore Developments and Island Homes have been pushing for affordable Jamaican property developments. The National housing trust is in the process of trying to create as much housing solutions for Jamaicans that could not otherwise afford properties. This is due to a wide range of factors, including Jamaican property taxes, legal fees, appraisal fees and other expensive fees and costs.
